New Community Vision joins Joining Forces for Affordable Housing
New Community Vision is proud to be admitted to Evanston’s Joining Forces for Affordable Housing.
Their mission of advocating for affordable housing solutions by partnering with organizations that support people in need in North Suburban Cook County puts us in good company.
Our strategy, partnering with congregations and community groups and dividing up the roles and responsibilities, with an orderly process, is in exact alignment and makes this undertaking manageable.
- New Community Vision creates the infrastructure for the gatherings to take place by developing relationships with congregations and community groups and planning monthly gatherings with refreshments. We also manage the administrative tasks and the database. Publicity would be a joint effort.
- Community groups and congregations provide the location and schedule a gathering at which this concept is explained, people are encouraged to consider it and sign up by completing the Self-Maintained Profile for Home Sharing (see the attached document). The partner group designates a liaison team to help their members understand this opportunity, navigate the process and allay any fears.
- Surely real estate professionals in every community would be happy to sell a house or a multi-family building to a willing buyer. Funding to develop cooperative housing is available for solid projects.
We look forward to working with JoiningForces’ 30 member agencies to make headway on our pitiful affordable housing deficit.
New Community Vision seeks to partner with congregations and community groups to organize frequent occasions to socialize and meet others. Eventually, relationships will form, some may be close, while others may be respectful and functional - which is a blessing in itself. Subscribing to the newsletter, Dispatch from a possible future (1st and 3rd Fridays), ensures that you will know about new developments and upcoming gatherings and that you won’t miss anything.
